Administrative & Financial Manager West Indies Zone

My career with the PVCPTeam, between the French West Indies and mainland France

My first assignment for the Group dates back to 2008, when I was recruited as Pierre & Vacances Operations Controller for the French West Indies region. It was a bit of an adventure, I left my job in the Paris region, which was what I was looking for, I discovered the West Indies and I met the mother of my son. After 6 years in a demanding job, I felt I needed to move on and I joined the team in charge of opening the new Center Parcs in Vienne. I’m the first to leave, for the 6 months leading up to the inauguration, then my family joins me when the estate opens, which is naturally an intense period.  For my partner, who is originally from the West Indies, adapting to a rural area where she can’t find work is very difficult. The question arose as to whether the family should return to the West Indies. At that point, the Group didn’t have a job to offer me, so I decided to leave and in July 2016, we were back in Martinique. I worked for a local family group for a while, but the travelling time was incompatible with family life…

My personal and professional life balance

In 2017, the position I held at Pierre & Vacances before returning to France became available and I applied for it. I knew the company well and was immediately operational. I hesitated, but I realised that my time at Center Parcs had given me working tools, a methodology and a fresh perspective, which would enable me to inject a new dynamic. Having taken a step back, I’m coming back with fresh energy. With the reorganisation of the Group, my position has changed and I am now Administrative and Financial Manager for the West Indies region. Today, I’ve been in this role for 7 years and I’ve found my personal and professional balance. I’m separated from my son’s mother, and thanks to teleworking, I can look after my son every other week.

For me, ‘reconnecting with what’s essential’ means

Walking! With my working hours, in a region where it gets dark early, I’ve discovered night-time walking. It’s very calming, the noises and smells change, and it’s an ideal transition at the end of the day, as well as being a great way to recharge your batteries, as there are quite a few hills here!
